Dr. Andrew Racette is a board certified Osteopathic dermatologist through the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular & Molecular Biology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and received his medical degree from Midwestern University: Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, AZ in 2004. He then completed a one year traditional rotating internship at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas from July 2004 to July 2005.
From July 2005 until June 2008 he completed a Dermatology residency training program at Midwestern University Phoenix Dermatology in Mesa, AZ. Dr. Racette served as the Chief Resident of the dermatology residency training program for all 3 years of his residency. He published several journal articles during his residency on such topics such as trigeminal trophic syndrome, halo nevi, novel drug reactions, and lichen striatus to name just a few. He won several awards including the Daniel Koprince, D.O. Award for Education given to the top resident presentation twice, the Ulbrich research award presented to the top resident research papers, and was selected as one of only ten residents in the world to present their research at the prestigious American Academy of Dermatology in Washington, D.C., the largest annual dermatology conference.
He graduated from his residency program in June of 2008 and opened his own dermatology practice, Omni Dermatology in Phoenix, AZ.
SPECIALIZED TRAINING IN
Dr. Racette approaches each patient individually taking into account all factors pertaining to the patient’s problems. He spends an extensive amount of time getting to know each patient so he can best tailor their therapy.
As a researcher in the field of dermatology, Dr. Racette has been active in dermatologic research. He has done research with some of the biggest and best dermatologic pharmaceutical companies including Galderma, Amgen, Peplin, Johnson & Johnson, and many others. He has received research grants for several of his innovative ideas and is continually working on new up and coming research projects. He has presented at conferences all over the United States and has been invitied to be a guest lecturer in several different areas of dermatology including general skin care, photoprotection and sunscreen, topical antioxidants, skin cancer, fungal infections, adverse drug reactions, and many others. He is an adjunct faculty member of A.T. Still University and Midwestern University in teaching medical students on rotations and lectures for Midwestern University as well.
Dr. Racette has been published in peer reviewed journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD) and the Journal of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. He is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, American Osteopathic Association, and Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association. He is also the co-editor for the Journal of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology.
